The first church I built taught me that a sanctuary is not a big empty room. The discipline is the same as any short-interval schedule: you're not just listing tasks, you're confirming that the work six weeks out is actually ready — submittals approved, material on the water or on a truck, predecessor trades complete, inspections cleared, access available. The rest of the building runs in parallel — and it's where you find your float
While the sanctuary crawls through its careful sequence, the education wing, fellowship hall, offices, and commercial kitchen can run on their own tracks. This is the superintendent's leverage. Leave a clean window for the owner's vendors after your trades are out.
- A dry run. If you can, get the AV team and the worship staff into the room for a rehearsal a week before dedication. It surfaces the small stuff — a dead cable, a dim zone, a feedback ring — while there's still time to fix it quietly.

One thing no schedule template prepares you for: your owner is often a committee of volunteers who have never built anything, and this building carries deep meaning for them.
